Speakers Biographies:
Henry H. Wong, Founder & Managing Director, Diamond TechVentures LLC
Henry H. Wong has been a prolific and successful entrepreneur, executive, and venture investor in Silicon Valley for over 25 years. Henry applies his operational experience, investment talent, and China expertise to advise, invest in, and build high technology companies with a global vision. He is the founder of Diamond TechVentures and was a venture partner at Crystal Ventures, where he was actively involved with companies including SMIC, LGC Wireless, Infinera, and Exavio. As an entrepreneur, Henry has had several significant successes, including SS8 Networks Inc., where he was the founder, CEO and Chairman, as well as IP Communications, XaQti Semiconductor, CNet Technology Inc., and Combinet (ISDN Systems), all of which he co-founded and led. In 2002, Henry was a finalist for the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year Award.” He is an advisor to several non-profit organizations and is active in community organizations. Henry holds a B.Sc. degree in Business from the University of Utah and a MBA in Telecom Management from Golden Gate University.
Ms. Claudia Fan Munce is the Managing Director at IBM Venture Capital Group. She has held this position since March 2004 and is based at the firm's California office. She is involved primarily in marketing and conference duties. Ms. Munce is also Vice President at IBM Corporate Strategy. She joined IBM Research Division in 1985 and held many technical and business leadership positions. Previously, she was the Functional Manager at IBM Research overseeing technology transfer and licensing activities as well as defining new business opportunities with top IBM partners. Ms. Munce is also a Member of the Advisory Panel of Arcapita Bank, Venture Capital Arm and Arcapita Ventures I, L.P. She is the Chairman of NVCA Corporate Venture Advisory Board for 2007/2008 and also serves on the Board of Latin America Venture Capital Association. Ms. Munce has done a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Santa Clara University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Howard Lee, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Founders Equity Partners, has more than ten years of experience in venture capital investing, and more than 20 years of experience in research, development, and marketing in emerging and established technology companies and research institutions. He was previously Executive Director and Co-Head for US Private Equity at CDIB Capital, the private equity arm of CDIB, the largest industrial bank in Taiwan. He was based in Menlo Park, CA. Prior to CDIB Capital, Mr. Lee was a General Partner at Crystal Ventures, a venture capital firm that focused on early-stage infrastructure and enabling technology companies in both the US and Asia. At Crystal Ventures he led communications-related investments. Prior to Crystal Ventures, Mr. Lee was Vice President of global venture capital firm Crimson Ventures in 1999, where he led communications infrastructure investments in the US. Prior to Crimson, he was Vice President and Co-founder of Volendam Capital Advisors, a venture fund that invests in emerging growth high technology companies in the US and Europe, including communications and interactive software. Mr. Lee has held management positions in product management and marketing at Applied Materials and has worked as a research investigator in optoelectronics and semiconductor materials at the US Army Research Labs. He has also held engineering positions at IBM and Unisys. Mr. Lee holds a BS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
